“With the PI System as our data infrastructure, we now have the ability to be more proactive and innovative towards Smart Campus”
OSIsoft is the industry leader for delivering a real-time data infrastructure used across businesses and cities to manage key processes and resources. This unique value is already in place in critical facilities such as universities, sports stadiums, airports, datacenters, hospitals and industrial plants. Together, Tongji University, Carnegie Mellon University, and OSIsoft, LLC. are creating an innovation ecosphere of collaboration between industry, government, and academic thought-leaders. These stakeholders are using data to empower city governments, businesses, and citizens to address urban challenges at city scale.
An example of this vision is the implementation at Carnegie Mellon University over the last few years where the CBPD (Center for Building Performance and Diagnostics), a global leader in high-performance buildings and systems integration for closed-cycle energy, material, water and waste design, has led the way in advanced building technologies and design. With a similar focus, Tongji University in China has done tremendous work as the pioneer in sustainability-oriented universities and has been leading the efforts with the Green Campus Alliance.
“With the PI System as our data infrastructure, we now have the ability to be more proactive and innovative towards Smart Campus,” said Dr. Siegfried Zhiqiang Wu, Vice President of Tongji University. “OSIsoft’s PI System is the industry standard in enterprise infrastructure for management of real‐time data and events. This is particularly true in the electric utility industry where the PI System has been recognized as the premier enterprise data infrastructure for Smart Grids in the United States. Carnegie Mellon University has been using the PI System since 2007 for our ‘Intelligent Workspace’ and we are delighted to share our experience and success with Tongji University in China,” said Dr. h.c. Volker Hartkopf, Director of the CBPD.
“This joint pilot project for Tongji University will showcase the new technology, advanced analytics and visualization tools, and the value of OSIsoft’s PI System. Tongji University has always been at the leading edge of sustainability development. This joint effort will raise industry’s technology and academic innovation to the next level,” says Ann Moore, Director, Industry and Market Principal at OSIsoft.
